Well my mare app x qh has a nice tail that almost touches the ground, problem is its NAPPY lol its like african american hair just really coarse and wavy oh my she has natural curly hair like me! lol What products do you think would help her have a nicer silkier tail? I have tried show sheen just not very consistant with it oops! :S! Its a full tail just tangly and well i dunno coarse. HELP! Another thing is her mane is really really thick, it is trimmed for banding, but to band it takes a million bands and forever too! Its puffy and thick and hard to work with. I have thining shears or whatever you call them but I dont know how to use them. I would like her mane to be thinner and lay flater on her neck, even the sleazy sleep wear doesnt help much! So when I show her hair looks like a total idiot did it lol! so any way to thin it without a bunch of hair sticking up? I know I should be blessed that my app has hair at all but its still a nusance! Thanks!

Have someone show you how to pull her mane. You have to do a few hairs at a time from underneathe and pull them out. This will thin the mane and help it lay flat. For the tail- get some creme rinse and mix it with water in a spray bottle and spray it on and work it in. Try different amounts to see what mixture works best. I usually do about 1/4 creme rinse to 3/4 water. Carefully comb out her tail- don't brush it harshly and break off hairs- it will look frizzed. Showsheen is drying to the hair- that's why it hasn't helped. You could also try some VO5 hot oil treatment (buy it at target or Walmart in the woman's hair stuff section) and follow the directions on that. Might need a couple tubes for a treatment. you are lucky to have an app with so much hair!!

I hate to pull manes but sometimes their is no other way, I would however add that
if her mane is super thick you will maybe want to tranc. her. It for sure does not feel
good and a little happy juice can help out. The only other thing is to use a thinning
razor, either way when it starts to grow back in it is going to stick straight up in the
air, you will have to stay on top of it for show season.

As far as the tail goes please don't put Show Sheen on it ever again I have
a super huge tail fetish, Show Sheen has a place but it is not on manes and
tails. I use a very small amount of Extreme Designs Detangler and Shine.
Hope this helps.

Cowboy Magic (Concentrated Detangler & Shine). We use this on our horses' tails. I love this product!

I also vote for Cowboy Magic. My mare has a massive amount of hair and the only thing that keeps is soft and pliable is Cowboy Magic.

I know this may sound stupid but we have used babyoil in a spray bottle...it helps to keep it down and it helps with softness as well as being very inexpensive.

Baby oil is not stupid. However it does attract dirt and clogs pores!
